Growing as an OD While Giving Back

in Clinical Culture Hear from Our Doctors Perspectives

Stylized quote from Dr. Kami Nguyen

Before graduating in 2019, Dr. Kami Nguyen, OD, spent over a decade working in a private ophthalmic practice, observing the demands of running a practice. Intrigued by a message from National Vision Doctor of Optometry network recruiters, she sought a mentor to guide her post-graduation and began her career providing comprehensive eye exams at an affiliated practice in the Dallas area. She gained confidence in the exam room thanks to the support of a knowledgeable team, access to advanced equipment and her ability to focus solely on patients.

Encouraged to expand her career in the network, Dr. Nguyen applied for a full-time position at a new affiliated practice. She now sees patients full-time at the office inside the America’s Best in Flower Mound where she finds inspiration in seeing her patients' lives improve. She encourages new graduates to join the National Vision Doctor of Optometry network for its supportive environment and focus on patient care.

“Seeing my patients go from struggling to excelling in their profession and improving their daily lives keeps me inspired.” -Dr. Kami Nguyen

In an interview with Women in Optometry, Dr. Nguyen dives deeper into her journey in the network and shares how it allows her to change lives everyday.
