National Vision, Inc. ("NVI") is one of the largest and fastest growing optical retailers in the United States and a leader in the attractive value segment of the U.S. optical retail industry. We believe that vision is central to quality of life and that people deserve to see their best to live their best, no matter what their budget. Our mission is to make quality eye care and eyewear affordable and accessible to all Americans. We achieve this by providing eye exams, eyeglasses and contact lenses to cost-conscious and low-income consumers.
National Vision, Inc. is one of the largest optical retailers in the United States, operating 1,000 retail locations in 44 states plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. We employ over 10,000 employees and our retail divisions include America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses, Eyeglass World, Vision Centers inside Walmart, Vista Optical inside Fred Meyer and Vista Optical on select military bases. Through our e-commerce division, AC Lens, we operate 19 websites selling contact lenses and eyeglasses online. National Vision, Inc. has plans to open 75 new locations annually.
National Vision, Inc.'s lab network consists of three domestic locations - St. Cloud, Minnesota, Salt Lake City, Utah and Lawrenceville, Georgia - as well as two outsourced, third-party owned international locations in China and Mexico. With over 600 lab employees, we focus on our goals of high efficiency, low cost, high quality and fast turnaround time.
Optometrists are the heart of National Vision, Inc.’s business. We offer optometrists a unique opportunity to focus solely on the customer, alleviating many of the frustrations private practice owners face. We also invest in new technologies with optical innovators to create a high-tech environment for optometrists to deliver top-notch care.
National Vision, Inc. was founded in 1990 to operate Vision Centers for Walmart. In 2005, Berkshire Partners acquired NVI as well as America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses and simultaneously merged the two companies. At the time of acquisition, America's Best had just 112 stores.
In January 2009, NVI acquired Eyeglass World and successfully turned around the retailer through a completely new merchandising and marketing strategy.
In 2011, NVI acquired long-time partner, AC Lens, to bolster its e-commerce platform.
In March 2014, NVI was acquired by affiliates of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P.
Today, National Vision, Inc. remains focused on making quality eye care and eyewear more affordable and accessible as we continue to expand across the country.
