    Who We Are

“We have long believed that core to our success is work that we can be proud to be associated with.’” - Reade Fahs, CEO

    A World in Need

The ability to see is often taken for granted. Many of us have the resources to get the eye care and eyewear we need to keep our vision clear. We might have a few pairs of glasses around the house and a whole stock of contact lenses.

For millions of people, this just isn’t the case. A simple pair of glasses could change their lives.

At National Vision, our mission is to help people by making quality eye care and eyewear more affordable and accessible. It is our responsibility to help bring sight to the more than 2 billion people around the world in need of vision correction.

We believe cost should never be the factor that keeps people from seeing clearly.

    Key Points Along the Journey

National Vision, Inc. was founded in 1990 to operate Vision Centers for Walmart. In 2005, Berkshire Partners acquired National Vision as well as America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses and simultaneously merged the two companies. At the time of acquisition, America's Best had just 112 stores. In January 2009, NVI acquired Eyeglass World and successfully turned around the struggling retailer. In 2011, National Vision acquired long-time partner, AC Lens, to bolster its e-commerce platform.

In March 2014, National Vision was acquired by affiliates of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P. (KKR). In October of 2017, we completed a successful IPO and continue to focus on advancing our mission by providing access to quality, affordable eye care and eyewear to people in communities across the country.
