Alex joined National Vision in 2013 as VP of Professional Services where he led the team to improve hiring, developing and retaining Doctors of Optometry (OD). In 2016, he took the helm as SVP of Marketing.
In 2019, Alex was promoted to Chief Medical Officer where he is responsible for developing the company’s clinical vision and strategy, and help identify and manage key external partnerships that aid the organization in meeting its mission and vision. Additionally, Alex provides strategic leadership regarding attracting and retaining doctors for the company.
Alex has spent his entire career in the optical industry. He started his career with Bausch & Lomb in the company's contact lens business. He then joined Essilor in their lab and retail sales groups. At Transitions Optical he focused on retail sales and marketing for 10 years, holding positions in Europe, Middle East, Africa and the United States.
Prior to joining National Vision, Alex was at Transitions Optical where he was responsible for sales in the United States and Canada.
Alex holds an Optometry degree from Rand Afrikaans University in South Africa.
